MYCAT

Hi guys,

This is Man from MYCAT Secretariat’s Office. Hope this email find you all well. I heard that you guys are on the semester break, so that’s why I’m writing this personally to you.

MYCAT is planning for another urban outreach, this time will be within Puchong area in the first week of December. The aim and content of the programme is similar to the previous ones we did in April. Again, our main target audience is the Chinese community. Since you’re our pioneer mandarin speaking volunteer for urban outreach programme, I’m wondering if any of you, if not all, would be interested and available to join us once again. It would be great if all of you could.

Specific dates and locations can be found in the list below. We can organise a refresher session for you with no hassle. I realised some of you are staying in Puchong, so maybe this is a great volunteer opportunity to fill in your holidays? :-)

Anyways, I would appreciate if you could respond back to me by next Tuesday, 17 November 2009(latest by next Monday-23rd November). If you know of anyone (friends, family members, etc.) who might be interested to volunteer in the programme, can let me know too.

Looking forward of hearing from you,

Thanks,

Man

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Why?

People who poach wild animals don’t live in the city, but people who consume them – those who eat exotic meat and take traditional medicines made from endangered species – do! By approaching consumers and potential consumer in areas where they are comfortable in, we stand a better chance of achieving our objective of reducing trade and consumption of wildlife.

What?

A stall will be set up in three local pasar malam. The stall will have authentic tiger parts including a tiger pelt, deer trophies, snares and traditional medicines derived from tiger parts, posters of dead and injured wildlife and posters to publicise the Wildlife Crime Hotline. MYCAT volunteers will man the stall and mingle with the crowd, expounding key messages and promoting the hotline.
