In the midst of the mid-term holiday, while everyone is still planning how to enjoy their holiday while completing tonnes of homework assigned by all the lecturers, a few of us from PM3 came all the way to college to join the Euclide Competition. For those of you who do not know what that is, that is actually a Mathematics competition that is held internationally worldwide. It is organised by the University of Waterloo, Canada.
Those of us who has signed up earlier through Mr. Lai, our Math teacher reached college before 3.30pm, the time which the competition was scheduled to start. Waiting outside the MPH, we saw Mr. Lai carrying the testpaper in. It looks heavy. Why? Bacause it contains a lot of paper inside la. Luckily he is not the only one who is carrying the papers. If he is the only one, then he will need to carry for the participants who added together can occupy almost the whole MPH. You will know how many students is that if you know how big the MPH is.
When we entered the hall, the participants information and the examination paper are already there waiting for us. Full of anticipation, we waited for the invigilator to say the magic word : You may start now!' We waited for everyone to stettle down before we start filling in all our information. The comeptiton started at around 4.10pm. But, the invigilator rewinded the clock to 4pm. She said it is for the convinience of everyone. She reminded us that no one should go out in the first half and the last half an hour of the entire 2 hours and 30 minutes of the competition.
The paper contains 10 questions. If I am not mistaken, those questions are arrnged from easy to hard. The first few questions are quite okay for everyone I guess but while approaching the end of the paper, the questions become harder na dharder. To answer those questions, sometimes you must need not just the Mathematics knowledge and skills but you will need thinking skills as well. But of course, you will not need to find the conclusion, assumption or flaw from the questions. But sometimes when you acnnot find the answer for the question you are doing, you might really hope that that question contains flaw. lol
When the paper started, you might think that you will not have problem finishing the paper as the first few questions are not too hard to attempt. Maybe some of you guys who went manage to finish the paper but sadly I don't. Anyway, the comeptiton ended at 6.40pm. As soon as it was ended, we left the hall while some of us forms groups and discussed about the questions when we are on the way going downstairs. I guess this is a very good experience for all of us who went. Hopefully next year more of us will be able to particpate in the competition.
Have fun!
