World Maths Day

I was asked to blog about the World Maths Day . I think it's because I was the one who suggested it. Shouldn't have opened my mouth. Hey, I am typing without looking at the keyboard. Oh yeah, before I start, it's actually supposed to be World Math Day and not World Maths Day. You don't add the alphabet 's' when the word mathematics is shorten.

Ok, to you guys who do not know what World Maths Day is, it's just a competition where you try to answer as many simple mathematical questions like 8 x 7 in two days, one minute per session . I just don't understand why people take such a long time to answer questions like this. I mean 8 x 7 is 53. So easy.

Ok, so the competition was on the 3rd of March. It started at sharp 7pm and ended at 7 pm also after 48 hours. It was two days actually despite the name. So we had to stay up late to play that game. The only benefit we had were that classes were cancelled. We did not ask for permission though most of the time, we just cancelled them ourselves. Just look at our blog title.

The most spirited one was Christine I guess. Forcing us to play the whole day while she slept. Nah, joking, she stayed up very late. Everyone did a great job. Ok. I'll just leave the praises and conclusion in my conclusion.

During this period , we unfortunately saw the most desperate and selfish moments you can find in Taylor's. Oh yeah, we were not excluded. It wasn't a good thing though. Every computer in The Web was occupied and the library too.

Our score was devastating on the first day because not many people played. But, some miracle happened and we rose from hero to zero, no I mean zero to hero. We just turned into geeks playing that math thingy. We were so so so tired but continued playing. That time I wasn't sure whether listening to lecturers the whole day or playing that game was better. But I can tell you now that playing that game is better. Haha.. Sadly, we can only play 48 hours a year..

Ok, the next day, everyone (our class) started playing that game as a team. It was definitely much more enjoyable than playing alone. And it really sucked playing alone in the middle of the night. I am afraid of ghosts and I was making typing sounds. Might wake them up you know. Luckily I had a picture of Jesus hanging on the wall. Phew..

Wei.. how long am I suppose to type? Can I stop now?

Some of us went to FTZ just to play that game. Ok, our money wasn't wasted I guess as Mr Lai gave us a great meal at Pizza Hut when the competition ended. You guys should vote for him more.

All our efforts were paid off when we obtained the sixth position in the whole world. First in Taylor's if you wanna make it sound better. But I personally feel that we are number six no matter what. Ok la.. sorry..

So, I guess I'll just end my very first post in this blog. Congratulations to all who had put in their maximum effort playing this game. See you.
